LOVE Central Otago Summers xxx

It’s the little things which get noticed xxx

You can pick up gorgeous door handles like these at interior stores or even gift shops these days.  I even found some cute ones at a second hand store.  So simple yet so effective.

As the wallet is most certainly feeling the pinch this Christmas, I’ve had to stretch my creativity to a new level.  After previous Christmas’s of spoiling family and friends with beautiful gifts (of the material kind) I’ve had to totally rethink my approach to this festive season.  With a budget less than half the size of other Christmas’s, here goes a few homemade ideas which may help others in the same situation…

  1. Christmas Cards.  Nothing says Merry Christmas better than a personal card and what better to make your own.  By some packaged blank cards from any stationery store, some festive coloured material, a few ribbons and drop by your local paint or hardware store for some colour samples (these make for great detail!), then get creative (and messy!)…
  2. Home-Baked Cookies.  Get a basic gingerbread cookie recipe and go nuts decorating with green, red and white icing combined with silver balls and M&M’s.  Not just for kids, these look great when guests arrive, hang them on the tree or package them in a clear celophane bag and tie with coloured ribbon for a gift.  Delicious!
  3. Lemoncello.Google a recipe for lemoncello, find some old jars in the pantry or try your local second hand or hardware store, then brew away.  A tasty gift which looks great in a small jar with a gift tag and ribbon around the neck.  Voila!
  4. Wrapping Paper.  Buy some plain brown paper to wrap presents in then get some festive coloured material, cut into strips and use as ribbon around the gifts.  So simple and they look magnificent under the tree when colour coordinated.  Also use some plain card to make gift tags-cut the card into small rectangles, cut the edges off one end then punch one hole in the centre of these edges.  Write your message then tie to the ribbon with string.

Although these are some pretty basic ideas, they not only will save you a bit of money but it will get you in the festive season and makes some good bonding time with your family if they want to get involved too.  You won’t believe the satisfaction that you get out of giving gifts you made yourself:)

“Creativity is available to anyone but is the only beautiful attribute which can be judged by noone.

The Creative Enterprise is the beginning of something special…

The Creative Enterprise seeks to fulfill people’s lives, not through material goods and status in society, but through releasing satisfaction in one’s own life defined by their own rules; discovering and exploring each’s own creativity.

This blog has no rules because, that is the essence of creativity.
